The Prometheus Project endorses President Barack Obama, Congressman Dave Loebsack
At the September Board of Directors meeting, The Prometheus Project voted to endorse President Barack Hussein Obama for President of the United States and Congressman Dave Loebsack for United States House of Representatives serving CD-2 in the state of Iowa. After a presentation by the Candidate and Legislative Affairs Committee, the Board of Directors voted to endorse both candidates due to their ardent approval ratings within each caucus' tributary organizations and their overall civil rights voting record, when compared to their opponents. The Project has dedicated time and volunteers to getting both of these incumbents reelected into their present seats, both are in a highly competitive race.
It is expected that the Candidate and Legislative Affairs Committee shall turn their attention toward other elections affecting our satellite membership with these endorsements occurring at the October Board of Directors Meeting. If you are a satellite member outside of CD-2, expect to be contacted to gain your feedback on candidates running in the area and let you know how you can help!

Board of Directors to elect new Disability Director and Religious Minority Director; nominees prepare, caucuses alerted. Amendments filed for Bylaws.
The September Board of Directors meeting should be an interesting display with two roles to be filled on the Board of Directors. Susan Sullivan, present Treasurer and Director of the Disability Caucus tendered her resignation for the position in August in order to make room for a promising new-comer within the Disability Caucus, Lauren Schmitt of Iowa City. Sullivan has received nomination to lead as Director of the Religious Minorities Caucus of which she has, too, belonged since the launch of the organization and will be likely rejoining us in the treasurer capacity again should she receive the votes necessary to become a Director.
The Religious Minority Caucus and Disability Caucus have received notice that their Director seats are up for election with nominations from the Board of Directors. In accordance to the bylaws, both caucuses may present an alternate Director nominee on the eve of the election slated for this Friday at 6:00 PM at the Iowa City Public Library, meeting room D.
Several amendments have been filed by the Chair, Timothy Judd of the LGBT caucus, who will temporarily relinquish his position to the Vice-Chair, Anessa Olson of the Women's Caucus for the tenure of his presentation. Noted topics to include: Membership terms, updating outdated material, and honorary directorships. Chairman Judd will regain his seat as Chair once the debate has concluded. Susan Sullivan, present Disability Director, may have amendments to present as well as she declared so at the August Board meeting.

Rules Committee hammers out election details for Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Primogeniture. Senior Caucus talks strategy.
The Rules Committee met today to discuss election issues at the convention and, after an hour and a half, hammered out the aforementioned elections to join with the already decided upon elections for convention chair, secretary and parliamentarian. Next on the agenda is to decide proportions of membership to join different committees and methods for election.
In other news, the Senior Caucus met via the first ever Prometheus Project teleconference tonight to begin discussing platform issues and have a good start on developing strong strategies for defending these issues to the Platform and Convention as a whole. They have begun collecting leads on growing their membership numbers as well. Watch for big things from the Senior Caucus.

Candidate and Legislative Affairs Committee confirms campaign message and drafts support proposals for Presidential; Congressional race.
The Candidate and Legislative Affairs committee has chosen "Uniting Voices. Uniting Hope." as our campaign message for the 2012-2013 season. This must still pass the approval of several committees but should be approved later today at the advertising and executive committee meeting. The choices for United States Congressional for CD2 and Presidential races must remain under wraps until the Board of Directors Meeting to be held on September 7th. As always, an open invite is made to the public who are invited to come and voice their support or concerns prior to the vote of the Board.

Membership Committee to grow the Prometheus Project by 25 members by September's Board of Directors Meeting. Arrangements seeks alternate venues.
Decided at the Membership Committee, the prior directive to fill the Director positions has been postponed until October's Board of Director's Meeting in lieu of a membership drive to occur over the course of the next few weeks. If you would like to assist in the membership drive, please contact the Membership Committee Chair, Robert Judd at (319) 855-9654.
The arrangements committee has suggested making meeting times occur on the same day as often as possible to ensure people can have an easier time committing to coming. They are currently seeking alternate venues in the Johnson County venue as the Libraries are not a consistantly reliable source for our permanent meetings. The September general meeting will include a potluck!

And they're off. The Prometheus Project kicks off its 2012 legislative session with a training, phone bank and letters of support.
The Prometheus Project launched its 2012 Legislative Session on Saturday, August 18th, with a training from Minnesotans United for All Families (Click Here) and phone bank to persuade Minnesotans to look within themselves and vote NO on the constitutional amendment. The National Organization of Women (Click Here) received a letter of endorsement with future plans of assisting them however possible. We have yet to begin work on the other campaigns but will be soon! Contained below is the letter we received from one of the founders of N.O.W. in response to our endorsement.
"Dear (Prometheus Project):
